The Andersontown Powwow is offering an event for 4th graders on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Anderson Elementary School for students to learn about Native culture and family life of more than 200 years ago.
They will provide three performances:
9:30 am - 10:45 am, 11:00 am - 12:15 pm, and 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm

Each of the performances will be broadcast live on Facebook from the Anderson Community School Corporation's page.
The program will be headlined by Jim Sawgrass, a native Floridian and member of Muskogee Creek Indian Tribe. His program will include farming, food gathering, native housing, cooking, and the fur trade.
Michael Pace, a historical interpreter in the Lenape Camp at Conner Prairie, will share stories of Delaware customs and traditions. Pace is a descendant of Delaware Chief Kikathwenund or William Anderson, the city of Anderson is named after him.
There will also be a Dance Demonstration with 2019 World Champion Hoop Dancer Cody Boettner.
This event is supported by grant funding from the Community Foundation of Randolph County, the Indiana Arts Commission, the National Endowment of the Arts, Community Hospital, and other local businesses in Madison County.
