Madison Court Division 3 Judge Andrew Hopper announced recently his appointment of Peter Lyon to fill the vacant Central District seat on the Anderson Community Schools (ACS) Board of Trustees.
“As a longtime community member, alumni of ACS, and parent of ACS students, I care deeply about the success of the school system and believe the board plays an integral role in both the achievements of the school system and the public's perception of the system,” said Lyon.
Lyon, a 2002 graduate of Highland High School, is interested in giving back to the school district he attended as a student. In addition to attending ACS as a student himself, his two daughters are current students.
“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Lyon to the ACS Board of Trustees,” said Dr. Cronk, ACS Superintendent. “His perspective as an alumni, community member, and current parent make him a valuable addition to the board.”
Since he is filling a vacant seat on the board left by the departure of Carrie Bale, Mr. Lyon’s term will last through December 2024.
“While my appointment is only for the remaining year of the term, I hope to be able to build trust within the community and bring a parents perspective to the current board,” added Lyon. “I look forward to serving the community and being a small part of moving ACSC forward.”
Mr. Lyon’s term as a board member will officially begin at the next ACS Board of Trustees meeting on December 12, 2023.
